A panel for the ScienceWriters 2010 Meeting
As a freelancer, it's easy to lose track of the myriad efforts to reach readers through new media. Who's got time to keep track of what's working and what's not? As a winner of an NASW travel fellowship, I'll be blogging from the NASW session "Experiments in New Media" and will report on the experiences of those who've been there, done that. The session was organized by Denise Graveline and Joe Bonner, so you know it'll be entertaining and informative. They're promising stories of startling successes and failures that led to greatness.
Your co-organizers will let you know when we stop blushing over Cori's very kind words. Maybe. Cori's one of several attendees who were selected for special fellowships to cover travel costs to the conference; they make up the team of bloggers assigned to cover particular sessions.
Of course, we encourage you to cruise around this blog to get ready for the session. Conference registration is closed and at capacity, with a record-breaking 600 attendees heading to New Haven. For those who can't attend, follow the hashtag #sciwri10 on Twitter, as we're expecting plenty of live-tweeters in the audience. I'll be serving as the Twitter moderator (http://www.twitter.com/dontgetcaught), so feel free to direct questions for our panel to me on Twitter if you want to participate remotely. I'll be happy to get questions from you before the panel starts as well as during the panel, which takes place in the Temple Room of the Omni Hotel in New Haven from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time.
Some sessions at the meeting will be slide-casted (that's SlideShare with audio), although this is not one of them. Instead, we'll be trying to capture video of our session, and you'll see that posted here if it works out, along with any slides our speakers wish to share. With all these hands on deck to cover this session, you won't miss a thing.
Joe and I will both be at the conference as of this afternoon--please come find us and let us know your questions about the panel, and get to our session tomorrow. See you soon!
